Movie Night - Cowabunga Dude!
All the stars adorned the red carpet last Friday at the annual Club MMA Movie Night Spectacular. Who knew we'd go through 2 tubs of popcorn kernels and over 100 juice drinks, but the audience was happy! Thanks to all our club celebs who made an appearance to watch one of Mr. Robison's childhood favorites with us. The Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles once again were a huge success!

Parent Night
It was a short holiday week so instead of the kids bringing friends we decided to have them bring their parents.....and we had fun! All the adult/kid duos did great and it was really fun to have moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas and aunts out on the mats! The adults held mitts for the kids and learned how to help correct their technique. The kids even got to do a little wrestling with their parent. Thanks to all adults who came out to support their martial artist!

NAGA Tournament 9-19-09
Club MMA spent the day on in New Castle, Indiana on Saturday, Sept 19, 2009.
We had a great turnout, all the students that competed did a great job! They spent a lot of extra time on the mat preparing for the event and it paid off for them.
Adults Levon Sackett, Paul Sullivan, Kevin Holland, Andy Holland, Dave "Heavy D" Wagel and Josh Stewart represented well bringing home lots of medals!
However, she made us all proud again when 12 yr. old Emily Hatting competed with the 15 to 19 year olds and won all first places!
Thank everyone that competed in the tournament, we are very proud of you guys. We also want to thank everyone that put the extra time to help the competitors get ready for the event and hanging out taking pictures and video. We are very lucky to have a great group of students, parents and supporters of Club MMA and you guys are the reason we do what we do. Thanks!!!

Black Belt Exam
On September 11, 2009, Club MMA promoted our first Black belts in Tae Kwon Do! It was a grueling 2-hour test of determination, strong will and talent! Brian Croll, Matt Herrmann, and Wesley Stafford completed all the requirements plus more. The exam was a great demonstration of their skills, technique and dedication. Not only did they have to demonstrate the traditional techniques of Tae Kwon Do including forms, basic motions, board breaking and sparring; they also had to demonstrate self-defense skills and grapple 9 rounds after they completed their Tae Kwon Do sparring!
We would like to personally thank Brian, Matt, and Wes for all their hard work, also thanks to all the families, friends and students that came out and supported the guys.

A Great Club Summer!
Sadly, summer is coming to an end, but we had a great season here at Club MMA. A slew of weekly summer camps were a huge success as many students learned to grapple, punch, kick and spar in our martial arts camps. Others got to play games, have water balloon tosses, do crafts and more in our day camps. Thanks to all the parents for letting us spend time with your kids this summer, we think they are all the best!
In June we got to man our booth at Cheviots annual Westfest which was a great weekend and we also had time for a great Ice Cream Social with the kids. We're gearing up for our next kid event to start off the fall season: A back-to-school Pizza Party!!! Join us and bring your new school friends on Friday, September 4. Ages 4-7, 6:30-8:00 and ages 8-12, 8:00-9:30. Only $5 per child.

"Kru" Mr. Robison returns from second Training Trip
"Finally back from Vegas for the second time, I spent the 3 days training with my Muay Thai coach Master Toddy. I spent my days drilling and holding Thai pads for other students. I was very lucky to be training with a great group of guys from all over the country.
I have friends now in Dallas, Miami, Hawaii and Jersey. I have been training and teaching under Master Toddy for years and on the last day of my training, Master Toddy held a ceremony among his students and promoted me to the rank of KRU (which means Instructor).
It was a great trip and I am glad to be home. I am ready to work harder and make my students better! Thank you to everyone who kept the school going, it feels really good knowing that I have great students who care about Club MMA and what we are doing."

Martial Arts Super Show
What can I say, I just got home from the martial art supershow convention in Las Vegas. I was working the BJJ America booth with David Meyer and John Will. It all started with a blue belt evaluation on Sunday, then on to the convention setup on Monday. The day started off pretty slow but ended with a bang as we got to attend a Tony Robbins seminars (which in my opinion is priceless opportunity). Tuesday things picked up with little seminars we were giving at the booth. I got to hit pads and demo a bunch of moves while John and David did all the talking. Then BJJ legend Renzo Gracie comes over to the booth looking for David and John, so I got to meet Renzo and get a picture.
Later Tuesday night I got to assist John And David in MMA seminar. It was pretty awesome seeing David and John work, they are excellent instructors and have great communication skills.
We rapped things up on Wednesday, I met so many great people at the supershow. It was a great experience working with everyone and seeing their take on training, teaching and working in the martial arts business. I have the greatest job in the world!
Thank you to all my students, clients, parents and friends that support Club MMA . Lastly thank you to my wife Abbie, who selflessly works her butt off so I can have my dreams come true! She is my best friend and the person that deserves all the credit. -Mr. Robison
And just so it's noted, Miss Abbie disagrees with the above statement but appreciates it just the same. I think all of Mr. Robison's students will agree that his dreams are worth all the attention they receive!! No one cares more about his students!

One of the Club's Greatest Competitors
One of Club MMA's toughest competed on Saturday at the OGC BJJ tournament at Randall Cooper high school. Aiden Freese weighed in at 49 pounds to compete in the 6-8 year old divsion. It was a long day for Aiden, but he walked out a champion. Aiden placed 1st in the no-gi and 2nd in the gi. We are so proud of Aiden's sportsmanship and perservence. At Aidens first tournament, he lost every match and I don't think he got a medal. He was just excited to be at the tournament. When all of my others students were walking around with medals, he was just happy to be a part of the team. Because he never gave up-he is a now a champion. Congratulations Aiden!!! We are very proud of you!

Bjj Seminar and Graduation
BJJ Black Belt, Bruce Shephard visited Club MMA on May 11, 2009 for a seminar. Head Instructor, Jeff Robison, first met Bruce at a J.J. Machado Seminar that he hosted lasted year in Evansville, Indiana. It was a great fit, as he has continued to visit and train monthly at the Jiu Jitsu Academy. The 3 hour drive to Evansville has been very worth it, as training with Bruce and his students has been a great learning experience.
Bruce conducted his first seminar with us and we had a great student turnout. He covered a lot of cool techniques for us and spent time on the mat with every student rolling. At the end, Bruce explained briefly his viewpoints on training and how to earn belts, only to then surprise us all with a few tip and belt promotion!
Congratulations to our New Blue Belts:
Mike Sweeney, Cory Ryan, Karey Croll and Levon Sackett!

A very Special Gift
Some of the best gifts come from the heart, and this gift really touched our hearts! Debbie Fink put together a Club MMA Stained glass window, which is one of the coolest and most original gifts we have ever received! It represents all the programs here at Club MMA and I am very proud to showcase in the front window. Not only do we have caring and supportive clients, but they are creatively talented too!!!! Thank you so much Debbie and Art Fink for all your support over the past year!
Make sure you come see our new art addition in real life....the picture doesn't do it justice!!!

Club MMA visits the Elder Mom's Club!
Mr. Robison visited the Elder Mom Club for a workout and Self defense Seminar Wed. May 6. They spent a some time learning basic kickboxing moves and then learned some self-defense. It was a great workout and a good opportunity to be reminded of awareness and basics of saftey. Our goal is to teach self-defense but hope no one ever has to use it! Thanks a bunch to Club member Kathy Jones for setting up the event.

One Year Anniversary Spectacular!
Biggest event of the year and a huge success!!!!
We were lucky enough to be able to start a great Martial Arts School, lucky enough to have awesome clients believe in us, lucky enough to be able make our clients like our family and then lucky enough to have the weather hold out on us for our huge spectacular party. It called for rain all week, but we ended up with a beautiful day!
The kids bounced and bop-em-boxed in the bouncehouse, played tons of games, got face-paintings and temporary tattoos and even enjoyed some hotdogs and treats! A special thanks to the Delhi Fire Department for stopping by to let us check out the truck and equipment. And a special thanks to Officer Hunter of the Delhi Police Department for talking to us about safety and bringing all kinds of stickers and goodies!
We are honored to have such a great club family and we were happy to see some new faces from the community too.
Thanks again to everyone who supports us and we look forward to many more years of success!
